Bud's Run is a great opportunity to bring our community together in addition to providing an outlet for many of our youth groups to raise needed funds to support their activities. The race was held on Saturday, September 24 at the Lake Villa Township Caboose Park and ran through Grant Woods Forest Preserve. It included a 5K Run/Walk and a 10K Run. Registration began at 7:30 a.m. Race begins at 9:00 a.m..

Howard "Bud" Scott was a lifelong resident and well known figure in the community.  Bud served on the Lake Villa Fire Protection District Board and served as chairman of the Fox Waterway Agency Board.  Bud was a graduate and later a teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent at Grant High School in Fox Lake. Bud was also highly visible in the local political circuit. He served as Lake Villa Republican precinct committeeman since the 1960s. He served on the Lake County Board, was a two-term director of the Fox Lake Chamber of Commerce, a Lake Villa Township trustee, and was a member of the Lake County Planning Commission. One of the titles most near and dear to Bud was Marine Corps veteran. The idea for the Lake Villa Township 5K run originated with Bud.  So appropriately the committee decided this year to name the run in Howard "Bud" Scott’s honor. From this year forward the Lake Villa Township 5K will be known as “Bud’s Run.”
